Preparing for live performances
More Than Music Lessons
Playing in a rock band teaches skills that extend far beyond music. Students learn responsibility, problem-solving, perseverance, and how to work toward a shared goal. They discover the excitement of creating something bigger than themselves while forming friendships with other young musicians who share their passion.
Rock U is a place where students encourage one another, celebrate each other's successes, and experience the incredible feeling of performing together as a team.
Live Performances
Throughout the season, Rock U bands have opportunities to perform for family, friends, and the community. These performances give students a meaningful goal to work toward while helping them build confidence and gain valuable stage experience.
There's nothing quite like the excitement of stepping onto the stage and hearing the audience cheer after weeks of hard work together.

2026-2027 Schedule:
This season, Rock U will feature two bands, both meeting on Wednesdays in East Nashville.
Band 1: 4:00 to 5:30 PM
Band 2: 5:30 to 7:00 PM
The Rock U program runs from September 2, 2026 through April 28, 2027.
Rock U will not meet during Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, or Spring Break. May 5 and May 12 are reserved as inclement weather make-up dates, if needed.
There will be 3 optional performances: the Music U Fall and Spring Recitals, and a Spring Showcase. Dates TBD.
Each week will alternate between a 90-minute full-band rehearsal and a 30-minute sectional/workshop focused on each instrument category to help prepare for the following week's band rehearsal and provide one-on-one instruction.
Band Assignments:
Rock U features two bands, each with six student spots. Band assignments are based primarily on experience level to ensure every musician is challenged, feels confident, and has the best possible experience.
For this reason, we encourage families to remain flexible and be available for either Wednesday time slot. While you may indicate on the registration form if your child is only available for one rehearsal time, greater flexibility allows us to create the strongest, most balanced bands.
Enrollment is first come, first served, and spots are limited.
Tuition:
$215 per student/per month. Fall through spring commitment. 30 sessions total.
Location:
HOME - Helping Our Music Evolve (East Nashville)
Our Rock U Instructors
Cameron Cleland - Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys
Jes Cleland -Bass, Drums, Keys, Voice
