Unlike other programs that focus on movement and stories set to "children's music," Music U provides developmentally appropriate activities while exposing young minds to a wide variety of musical genres and music theory concepts, all curated around a monthly theme!

Ms. Jes not only makes each age group’s experience fun, but does an excellent job specifically catering the lessons to their age. Each class involves lots of fun songs and engaging movement as you would expect, but she goes beyond those expectations by also teaching music theory, introducing children to a variety of types of music and instruments from different cultural perspectives, and invites special guest performers to encourage children to authentically experience live music based on the current theme. We are so happy with these weekly classes and our students and parents love the opportunity for private lessons, so we can’t say enough great things about MusicU!”

Jes Cleland
Owner/Music Teacher
Founder Jes Cleland, originally from southern California, launched Music U Class and Music U Studio in 2013 and has since taught weekly classes to numerous childcare centers and added over 100+ private music lesson students to the studio roster throughout the Nashville area.
Katherine Mathis
Music Teacher
Katherine Mathis, also known as Kat, has lived in Nashville for over 30 years and grew up singing and playing piano. She considers herself an educator at heart, whether it’s teaching school, fitness, music, or her own children. She loves being an instructor at Lotus Learning Center for Music U!
Miranda McCauley
Music Teacher
Miranda spent time in both California and Colorado growing up. She is in her senior year at Belmont University, working towards her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. Miranda can be seen on stages at Belmont and instructing little ones in dance and music classes.
